A huge thank you to KD-UK who have donated a spectacular £25,000 towards Helen’s research using stem cells to study Kennedy’s Disease (also known as Spinal and Bulbar Muscular Atrophy).
Kennedy’s Disease is a rare form of motor neuron disease caused by a genetic mutation.
Helen is working on a collaborative project between The Patani Lab and The Greensmith Lab led by Professor Linda Greensmith who is also based at UCL.
The research grant will be used to study some of the changes which occur in motor neurons derived from patients with Kennedy’s Disease using a technique called RNA-seq analysis which may help us to identify new pathways that are affected in this condition and cause the cells to die.
